About this grape variety

Typical mountain varieties that used to be grown throughout the Alps and is now a rare speciality of Valais.

Until recently, plantings of Rèze were thought to be confined to Valais. However, Michel Grisard and José Vouillamoz discovered around a dozen old Rèze vines in Savoie in 2008, some of which have unfortunately now disappeared. At the around same time, Gaël Delorme also came across some vines in the French Jura.

Until the end of the 19th century, Rèze was one of the most widespread grape varieties around. Furthermore, Rèze was used to make the legendary "Vin du Glacier" in the Anniviers Valley.
